Born in Yokohama,

Yuya Akai started his career as a painter when he was 22. From 2000 to 2010 he studied painting in the Shinjuku Institute of Art in Tokyo.

 

During that period, he held his first exhibitions in 2006 and 2008, displaying several of his works including oil paintings, sculptures and drawings. These exhibitions were very well received by the public and all the more encouraged to pursue his way in the painting society.

 

In order to broaden his horizons and come in contact with of cultures, he started traveling to many countries in Europe , Asia and the Middle East. Finally he decided to set up his atelier in Paris and has been fulfilling passionately his clients special requests coming from all over Europe.

 

 His painting style is especialy inspired by Aso Saburo and Takeo Yamaguchi who is a good acquaintance of his master at the Shinjuku institute of art. Yuya Akai mainly focused on painting portraits with oil painting, which is why many clients request portraits for him. Until now he has been working to fulfill his clients wishes, his next aim is to join exhibitions all over Europe to share his views with painters influenced by different cultures, and hence pursue the work he started with his first exhibitions in Japan.
